This engine uses turbocharger 320/06177, which is side-mounted with the actuator positioned on top of the engine. This raises the overall engine height compared to 320/41334 (which uses turbocharger 320/06178 with a side-positioned actuator), making 320/41378 suited to machine applications with sufficient vertical clearance to accommodate the taller configuration.
Both turbocharger types were used across a range of applications, including sweeper machines such as the Bucher/Johnston VT651/652 and Johnston S6400/S8400.
Displacing 4.4 litres across four cylinders, the engine uses a high-pressure common rail fuel system with variable geometry turbocharging, delivering a maximum torque of 433Nm. It meets EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 Final emissions standards via an SCR/AdBlue aftertreatment system.
The ECU supports power adjustment, meaning a suitably equipped installation can be reconfigured to alternative output ratings.
